BLK’s initial studio session was transformative. "We vibed instantly," recalls Bexk, describing a spontaneous and organic connection. "Forming a girl group felt incredible because Toronto hasn’t had one in a while." We recorded a track that was phenomenal, and we agreed to continue." Emphasizing genuine, organic chemistry was paramount to all involved, rather than something contrived. The trio debuted under the MADE IN SAUGA® label and 21 Entertainment (known for artists like Alessia Cara, Tamia, and Nelly Furtado) with their first single, 'Got It,' in June 2020. This melodic track blends R&B, Pop, and Hip-Hop, delivering powerful messages of self-worth, unabashed sexuality, and fearless individualism. 'Got It' quickly gained attention, receiving airplay on BBC 1Xtra and Flow 93.5, and was remixed by the renowned Fatman Scoop. An official music video for 'Got It' followed in fall 2020, coinciding with the release of their debut EP, BLK Girl Magic, on August 24, 2021.
